Membership Resources for Adult Audience
Mission to Market
The Writer/Editor, Membership Resources, is responsible for writing and editing print and electronic adult resources. Working in partnership with the Director of Membership Resources, the Membership Resources staff, the Membership & Volunteerism staff, and the staff of other departments (namely, Program, Global, Communications & Marketing, and Learning & Organization Development), the writer/editor ensures that the writing and editing of resources for Girl Scout volunteers and council staff reflect the current needs and interests of adults and are viewed as superior by both the publishing world and the general public.
Consults and collaborates with all GSUSA departments to ensure that consistent, culturally sensitive, and contemporary language is reflected in all print and electronic resources for volunteer and staff use, including books, learning and consulting curriculum, e-newsletters, presentations, webinars, online content (Web sites, training, intranet, and so on), video scripts, podcast scripts, and other emerging technologies.
Qualifications:
• Minimum 3 years of experience writing for culturally diverse adult audiences.
• Minimum 3 years of experience developing, organizing, and copyediting manuscripts of similar content.
• Excellent organizational and project-management skills. Experience developing and managing schedules, meeting deadlines, and working on multiple projects simultaneously as project leader and team member.
• Excellent written communication, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated customer service skills.
• Demonstrated experience working in a highly collaborative environment under pressure.
• Demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft Office, with a heavy emphasis on Word and PowerPoint.
• Experience with adult curriculum development, with online interactive learning experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in English or Journalism, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Must be able to provide recent published writing samples. Will be required to take and pass a rigorous in-house development/copyedit test.
