This Food Director will report to the Associate Publisher at Prevention
and will cover the food and packaged goods categories. The ideal
candidate will have 5+ years of advertising sales experience preferably
in the food category. All candidates must be proficient in digital sales
as well as traditional print media sales. The candidate must sell
pro-actively across all of Prevention’s brand assets including magazine,
web site, SIP’s, events, database, custom publishing, reprints, book
mailings, direct mail, or other alternative media that carries the
client’s message to our consumer.

The Food Director’s responsibilities include:
-Prospect all existing accounts and prospect for new business by
contacting companies, distributors, etc.
-Sell and service existing major accounts as assigned
-Make regular contact either by phone or in person to keep accounts up
to date on materials, books, upcoming titles, etc.
-Sell material to new accounts in custom published formats, including
all options from simple cover changes to completely re-worked material
-Write and present proposals to clients
-Attend various trade shows
-Read industry journals and use the Internet to search for the most
qualified prospects
-Manage ongoing projects from sales through delivery

The ideal candidate will possess:
-5 years of sales experience, managing top accounts that generated
significant revenue
-Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products and Internet
-Hands-on experience and successful track record of sales and knowledge
of the publishing industry
-Able to work independently in terms of sales efforts (prospecting,
correspondence, proposal writing, sales materials, travel)
-Travel required to meet with accounts on a regular basis
-College degree
