Description:
The newly merged Men’s Health/Women’s Health sales and marketing team is looking for an experienced Web Producer/Project Manager for a freelance position in our Manhattan office. In this role, the Producer/PjM will help facilitate our online ad sales and marketing initiatives and be an active participant in our highly motivated integrated marketing team.
This is an interdisciplinary role that joins project management skills with a solid understanding of the web with minor web development skills necessary. In addition to a working knowledge or the print world, the individual we are looking for will be expected to be proactive and able to identify business/technical needs and translate them into requirement as well as to turn requirements into actionable schedules and work with editors/designers/programmers to ‘get it done.’
Responsibilities:
• This position will be responsible for planning, tracking, and managing scope of projects, in close partnership with the following teams: print and online ad sales & marketing groups.
• This individual will champion and drive project discussions with internal partners as well as outside vendors and business partners. This person should possess a strong knowledge base of the media industry, specifically as it pertains to publishing and digital.
• Setting agendas and meeting objectives for all requirements discussions, managing the appropriate resources for each discussion, and ensuring full participation from all key partners.
• Maintain project schedules and deliverables, and ensure that timelines are adhered to.
• Identifying, resolving, and escalating any issues that may arise, and reporting back to appropriate party.
• Help online ad sales and marketing on projects in coming to a conclusion on all functional requirements
• Set project plans and key deliverables; continually track and manage progress; escalate slippage; make adjustments as appropriate
• Maintain frequent communication with all key partners and stakeholders on project objectives, statuses, issues, etc.
• Address issues/identify options for solutions as appropriate with respective leadership
• Assist in the documentation of all use cases and functional requirements
Skills/Qualifications:
• Intermediate HTML/DHTML/CSS knowledge
• Basic familiarity with web video production and platforms.
• Familiarity with Blog publishing tools, RSS and XML.
• Ability to think critically about web design and web development tools.
• Know how to use MS Office Apps.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Solid understanding of web production and development and the technologies involved.
• Organized and results-oriented.
• Able to deal with ambiguity and identify the critical path in a project.
• 5+ years Experience with large-scale web sites.
• Understanding of the principals of web analytics and online advertising.
*Bonus Skill*:
• IT/Development background (Java, JSP, Javascript.)
• Macromedia Flash and Actionscript.
• Familiarity with Blogging software (TypePad, MoveableType.)
• Digital Audio and Video Production (Podcasting, Streaming, Encoding Processes.)
• Interactive agency experience
• Visual Design experience
Eligibility Requirements:
• BS/BA degree
• At least 5 years experience with media: publishing, broadcast and digital.
• In depth knowledge of Advertising Sales, Traffic, Marketing and Accounting principles within the television industry.
• Experience working at a publishing, broadcast or digital company,
• A self-starter who is able to quickly take control of projects, win the approval of senior management, peers, and subordinates, and be viewed as a service/solutions provider.
• Exceptional communication (written/verbal), problem-solving, interpersonal, and time-management presentation skills (negotiation skills a plus).
• Self-motivated; detail and process oriented.
• Attraction to continuous change and a demonstrated ability to thrive in a continuously changing environment.
• Ability to work across multiple groups to drive functional requirements.
• Ability to communicate and interact with senior management and technology professionals.
• Ability to lead multiple projects concurrently.
