Description: Maxim Magazine is seeking an intern in the sales department
for the fall semester (mid August to December). We are looking for
someone that is motivated and eager to learn more about advertising
sales in the busy world of magazine publishing.

Responsibilities:
1. Develop and execute a semester long project which involves
research, creativity, and covers sales and marketing objectives

3. Assist in everyday sales tasks, such as data entry, organizing

This job allows for high-level creative thinking and idea generation for corporate advertisers looking for integrated marketing programs with print, digital and experiential elements.

• Program Development - Candidate will be responsible for coming up with ideas and contributing to brainstorm sessions and then securing brand data; pricing information; and specific program descriptions from internal personnel and synthesizing that data in a timely manner to write up the program.

• Partnership Development - Beginning to develop strategic partnerships that can be used in future programs is important as this person expands their database of contacts and explores partnership opportunities.

• Creative Proposal Writing - Each program must be written to illuminate and sell the idea conceptually and through program details. Creative writing skills are important to bring to life the idea through examples of the type of content that will be created through the program. Each proposal begins with slides that position our brands with syndicated target research to satisfy a client’s challenge and set up the concept.

• Client Interaction/Account Management - Work with clients to articulate our ideas and instill confidence during both the sell-in and execution process.

• Execution - Bring a program (in whole or in parts) to life once it is bought ensuring that the client’s brand, our brands and the program are properly represented in print, online and through experiential components. Managing production teams, fulfillment companies and internal personnel to ensure the timely delivery of assets and working with clients to obtain approvals. Creating detailed timelines and budgets and managing those throughout the execution are important.

Required Skills:
Candidate must be strategic and able to marry creative thinking with tactical execution. Knowledge of print, digital and events is a plus and attention to detail is necessary to manage the execution from timelines to budgets. The candidate must be able to articulate their ideas both in writing and in person when communicating with clients.

Required Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience.

Associate Circulation Director - Newsweek

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Associate Circulation Director will direct the development and implementation of Circulation marketing strategies and plans to meet budgeted objectives for acquiring new subscribers, for both Newsweek and Budget Travel Magazines.  S/he will manage all new subscriber acquisition channels including direct mail, inserts, internet, agents and partnerships.  The Associate Circulation Director will oversee the preparation of subscription production and expense budgets, monthly re-estimates and weekly reports.  S/he will play an active role in managing the print order to meet rate base requirements for both Newsweek and Budget Travel magazines.  The Associate Circulation Director will evaluate subscription performance and design subscription strategies to achieve circulation goals.  S/he will manage vendor relationships for list brokerage and list management of the Newsweek and Budget Travel files.  The Associate Circulation Director will implement tests and ongoing subscription marketing activities in new channels of acquisition, particularly online.  S/he will supervise staff of two and perform other duties, as assigned.
 

REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will have 10+ years Direct Marketing Experience.  S/he could be either a new subscriber acquisition or retention specialist.  The ideal candidate should be proficient with MS Office (specifically Excel).  A MBA is preferred.
