{"id":2231,"date":"2011-05-16T20:11:18","date_gmt":"2011-05-16T20:11:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/westovermedia.com\/blog\/?p=2231"},"modified":"2011-05-16T21:02:07","modified_gmt":"2011-05-16T21:02:07","slug":"associate-marketing-director-smithsonian-media-smithsonian-media","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/westovermedia.com\/blog\/archives\/2231","title":{"rendered":"Associate Marketing Director, Smithsonian Media"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--StartFragment--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>Smithsonian Media seeks an Associate Marketing Director in our Grand Central location to <\/span><span lang=\"CS\">create marketing programs and materials that will gain new and grow existing advertising business for all of Smithsonian Media\u2019s assets.<span> <\/span>Smithsonian Media is comprised of the advertising-related business of Smithsonian Enterprises, including Smithsonian, Air &amp; Space and goSmithsonian magazines; Smithsonian.com Smithsonianmag.com, Airspacemag.com, gosmithsonian.com and Smithsonian Channel websites as well as Smithsonian Channel television advertising sales. \u00a0In addition, includes current and future custom and annuity programs and promotional events such as Museum Day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"CS\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>Responsibilities Include:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"CS\"><span>\u00b7<span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><span lang=\"CS\">Develop marketing programs that will gain new business and grow existing accounts for all of Smithsonian Media\u2019s assets including writing proposals and presentations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"CS\"><span>\u00b7<span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><span lang=\"CS\">Manage RFP process for all merchandising\/program requests within assigned categories and oversee those developed by the Marketing Managers for other categories.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"CS\"><span>\u00b7<span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><span lang=\"CS\">Work with Marketing Manager on all category development strategies and materials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"CS\"><span>\u00b7<span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><span lang=\"CS\">Create sales materials that support brand positioning, marketing programs and merchandising initiatives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"CS\"><span>\u00b7<span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><span lang=\"CS\">Supervise Marketing Manager and Promotion Coordinator and help to manage workflow and provide day-to-day support.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"CS\"><span>\u00b7<span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><span lang=\"CS\">Develop and execute special advertising sections for the categories\/target accounts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"CS\"><span>\u00b7<span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><span lang=\"CS\">Leverage existing Smithsonian assets (i.e. National Zoo, Air &amp; Space, etc.) to create integrated marketing programs <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"CS\"><span>\u00b7<span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><span lang=\"CS\">Oversee execution of merchandising added-value programs for advertisers within designated categories.<span> <\/span>Promotion Manager and Marketing Coordinator to provide assistance as needed<\/span><span lang=\"CS\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>Education and Experience:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>Bachelor\u2019s degree (BA) from a four year college or university and 5 to 7 years experience in media marketing\/advertising.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span><span>\u00b7<span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><span>Specific knowledge and understanding of marketing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span><span>\u00b7<span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><span>Knowledge of the magazine sales process<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span><span>\u00b7<span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><span>Solid experience developing sales promotion materials<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span><span>\u00b7<span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><span>Ability to juggle multiple projects with a high degree of accuracy and follow through<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span><span>\u00b7<span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><span>Excellent communication skills<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span><span>\u00b7<span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><span>Proven track record of creative and effective marketing strategy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>To apply, please email resume and cover letter, including current salary, to <a href=\"mailto:sbvcareers@si.edu\">sbvcareers@si.edu<\/a>.
