Summary:

NYTimes.com is launching a pay model in 2011. A key objective of the Marketing Operations team is to increase marketing efficiency and build a foundation for excellence by reinforcing marketing with processes, technology, metrics and best practices. The idea candidate will partner closely with the NYTimes.com marketing team and play an integral role in establishing the operational protocol necessary to drive results and achieve cross-departmental goals. This individual’s mission is to provide 100% advocacy to their internal customers. The qualified applicant possesses a well-rounded understanding of direct marketing and technical concepts, and has the capacity to quickly adapt and embrace new ideas.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational consultation to internal and external customers, translate business strategy and requirements into operational requirements, map dependencies to other areas of the business, and when required, create specification documents for IT development and/or external vendors

  • Manage execution of marketing initiatives with sharp focus on timelines and ensuring clear communications exists between various cross-functional roles, including: marketing operations group, creative team, marketing managers, data analysts and modelers, database vendors, internal and offshore IT and vendors and legal department.

  • Partner with Marketer in advance so key performance indicators are agreed upon and measurable thereby ensuring campaigns are correctly launched, delivered on-time, accurately tracked and reported

  • Manage the execution, including meticulous QA, of marketing programs in Siebel Marketing by creating codes for meta data and performance tracking, designing segmentation for desired targeting and working with IT to establish new criteria

  • Provide subject matter expertise of email marketing operations; QA, test and deploy e-mails in Epsilon’s DREAM platform

  • Manage ad hoc reporting and data requests through open SQL queries, working closely with IT to thoroughly understand table structures within the data environment

  • Directly manage workflow of external teams at various partners

  • Keep up on online legislation including CanSPAM and online privacy

  • Continuously analyze the current processes and optimize accordingly to improve productivity

Requirements:

  • Strong project management skills with 3-5 yrs experience managing IT and/or marketing related projects.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to ensure

  • Working knowledge of MS Excel and general knowledge of databases are required. Working knowledge of MS Access, Siebel Marketing, Business Objects and Oracle SQL is preferred.

  • Ability to work under firm deadlines and rapidly changing environment

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects

  • Self-motivated, organized, innovative, and a problem solver with a can-do attitude

  • Strong management and negotiating skills

  • A bachelor’s degree is required

  • A sense of humor is essential
