RealSimple.com, a division within the Time Inc Lifestyle Digital Group, is looking for an enthusiastic, energetic, focused individual to lead sales packaging and media planning our online sales and marketing efforts. The Senior Sales Development Manager will manage a team that is responsible for developing superior sales packages, marketing materials, big ideas, buzz, and overall sales support for the online advertising efforts for digital properties of Real Simple, from the website to mobile products.
We are looking for a self-starter, who can think creatively and strategically, can work collaboratively as a team player, and has very strong presentation and interpersonal skills. We are looking for someone who is a motivating team leader, highly detail oriented, can thrive in a deadline-driven environment. This person should love digital media and have strong working knowledge of online advertising platforms and executions and how to leverage those to create big ideas and marketing solutions for our clients. This is an ideal position for a candidate with strong online advertising and planning/packaging experience to grow within an exciting and dynamic organization. This position is based in New York.
Key Responsibilities:
• Mange, establish process and procedure regarding entire pre-sale and RFP process for the digital products of the RS brand.
• Capture trends in RFP volume and requests in order to identify needs from a product, edit or packaging perspective.
• Work closely with the digital sales and product teams to develop new, compelling, and creative products and sales programs that deliver on client objectives for all online proposals and presentations for growing digital business.
• Person would serve as primary digital liaison at Real Simple for leading sales packaging strategy for print/digital integrated deals (includes brainstorm participation, working with edit/product teams to assess program feasibility and delivery of digital portion of proposals). Collaborate and brainstorm with the brand magazines’ print marketing team to develop and implement successful integrated sales processes and integrate online components into all client proposals.
• Attend and present at digital agency & clients where appropriate.
• Collaborate on production of online ad sales materials and collateral, incorporating research data where necessary.
• Lend direction with regard to development of rich media, contests and sweepstakes, and other non-standard advertising programs for clients.
• Work with digital management to develop and continually evolve more efficient and effective pricing models, and assist in maintaining the rate card, including production costs, for inventory across the sites.
• Serve as a category (e.g., CPG, Food, Retail) expert with a firm handle on the current competitive/strategic landscape to help fully inform the sales development process.
• Manage and update performance and pipeline reports.
Candidate Attributes:
• Candidates must have at least 7+ years of successful sales development, marketing, or account planning/ management experience at a website- preferably on the display side of the business. Experience with a digital agency or media content site and the selling of cross-platform programs desirable.
• Must have excellent communications and interpersonal skills, including presentation skills, and be an enthusiastic and collaborative team player.
• Should have a solid grasp of digital media planning, online inventory management and ad serving processes
• Must have strong creative marketing & ‘story-telling’ skills.
• Must possess a working knowledge of the online metrics and research tools used in the marketplace (i.e. comScore MediaMetrix, Nielsen NetRatings, Omniture). Quantitative skills for analysis of this data also a plus.
• Must have strong knowledge of various online advertising platforms, ad serving technologies and creative executions (Rich Media, DART, Atlas, etc).
• Desire to work in fast-growth, entrepreneurial-like environment.
• Strong time management and organizational skills are essential.
• Must be proficient in PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
• Photoshop skills are a plus.
