Sales Development Manager – Essence.com January 6, 2012
The Digital Marketing Manager will be a key resource in all sales development efforts for growing Essence.com. The role will be responsible for development and execution of all custom digital programs and digital components of integrated marketing programs. This can range from definition of program, development of sales materials, assisting in pricing, execution of program and wrap-up analysis of program success metrics. Overall we are looking for someone who is a self-starter, who can think creatively and strategically, works well in an entrepreneurial environment and has very strong presentation, analytical and interpersonal skills. In addition, an understanding of niche markets and working with non-endemic categories is key.
Specific Responsibilities:
Digital Marketing
• Work with Integrated Marketing team and Sales Lead to develop custom marketing programs
• Partner with Sales & Marketing VP, Digital Sales Director and Essence.com General Manager to grow overall online ad sales
• Provide support for ad hoc online special projects
Creative Management
• Collaborate with Ad Sales and Marketing teams to develop compelling on-line sales proposals and presentation templates for clients
• Create online ad sales materials and collateral. Request research data where necessary
• Develop creative solutions for clients that are realistic to execute
• Develop and oversee production of rich media, contests and sweepstakes, and other non-standard advertising programs for clients. Be able to bid these projects out to external vendors for both creative and/or production
• Create campaign recaps of traffic performance and work with sales planners as needed
Analyze online metrics such as Omniture, Comscore, Nielsen
• Be the key point person for sales team on online metrics. Have a firm handle on the current competitive landscape including traffic, demographics, research and sales opportunities.
Specific Attributes:
• Candidates must have 2-3 years of successful digital marketing and/or integrated marketing experience (with digital focus) at an online website. Experience with 1- a magazine or other media content site and 2- the selling of cross-platform programs required.
• Must have strong creative skills in developing compelling programs for marketers.
• Must be flexible to working in a fast paced environment and adapt to changing needs of the business
• Must have excellent communications and interpersonal skills, and be an enthusiastic team player in order to successfully coordinate sales efforts across multiple divisions including site editorial, sales staffs, marketing staff, TII Ad Operations & Finance
• A solid grasp of online inventory management and ad serving processes.
• Must possess a working knowledge of online metrics and research tools used in the marketplace (i.e. MediaMetrix, Nielsen NetRatings and @Plan, Omniture). Quantitative skills for analysis and tracking of this data also required.
• Comprehensive knowledge of various online advertising platforms and creative executions, and with current online ad serving technologies and creative executions.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Must be proficient in PowerPoint, Word and Excel, Atlas, MediaVisor, DFP and Omniture.
