Integrated Marketing Director – Southern Living December 1, 2011

Southern Living is looking for a dynamic marketing professional to join its team. This position will be a management-level integrated marketing role, directly manage a staff of four (4) to six (6) professionals and contribute to the overall sales and marketing strategy for the brand. This position will report directly to the VP Marketing (based in New York) and work closely with the New York- and Birmingham-based teams.
Responsibilities include:
· Working closely with the sales and marketing staffs to manage the overall process and best practices of all client-directed proposals and presentations

· Developing, creating and executing proposals and presentations in the Automotive, Retail and Consumer Electronics/Entertainment categories

· Overseeing key strategic retail relationships; e.g., Food Lion, Publix, Dillard’s, Belk, Time/Warner Retail

· Managing team responsible for integrated proposals/project management, as well as the two (2) person creative team

· Partnering with VP Marketing and Executive Marketing Director to oversee the marketing strategy for the brand

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be a smart, strategic, flexible, creative thinker who is willing to roll up his/her sleeves, open to learning and ready to have some fun. S/he must be:
· Resourceful, proactive, detail-oriented, organized and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment

· Able to interact with high-level executives, both within and outside of the building

· Experienced in management and have the ability to lead and motivate a team

· Familiar with all aspects of integrated marketing, including digital

· An exemplary communicator, both written and verbal

· Willing to work in a highly-collaborative atmosphere, yet be comfortable taking the lead on projects and giving direction to a team, where appropriate

· 7+ years marketing experience, preferably in integrated media/advertising; experience with large-scale events and in-store promotions a plus

· Proficient in PowerPoint, Word and Excel; InDesign/design skills a plus

· Bachelor’s degree required

This position will be based in Birmingham, AL or New York, NY.
