Position Title: Research Manager

Location: New York, NY, US

Job Description:
• Perform in-depth and timely fact-checking of magazine content. Responsible for ensuring accuracy from approved edit of manuscript through the final proof stage.
• Recruit, schedule, and supervise freelance fact-checkers as needed
• Work closely with story editors, copy editors, designers, and legal department to provide correct and clear solutions to any fact problems
• Check that illustrations and captions are correct
• Maintain standards and procedures guide
• Process invoices
Required Experience:
• Excellent journalistic judgment and attention to detail and accuracy
• Able to prioritize and manage various simultaneous assignments while maintaining high quality work within a fast-paced, high-pressure, high-volume, multitasking, deadline-driven environment
• Possess strong interviewing, oral and written communication skills
• Possess impeccable analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
• Candidate must have experience dealing with legally sensitive and controversial content
• Ability to work well with others and communicate effectively
• Flexibility and adaptable to change; positive attitude
• Inquisitive/critical thinker who is graciously persistent with staff and sources.
• Knowledge of fact-checking procedures and acceptable sources
• Working knowledge of InCopy, InDesign and K4 desired
