Overall scope of position

Develop and direct the visual image of PGOA Media brands (print and digital) to our trade and to consumers through ad-supported executions

Primary responsibilities

Develop and direct the visual brand image of PGOA Media to our trade

Develop and refine a consistent, sophisticated marketing ‘look’ that mirrors editorial image and reader sensibility. This look should be reflected in everything produced, from print pieces to platform design.

Responsible for the visual look and feel of all marketing collateral

Direct and design all marketing collateral including presentations, brochures, invitations, media kits, digital communications and other sales materials. Insure that all materials reflect PGoA Media images (across all brands and media) and strongly communicate agreed-upon messages.

Responsible for the visual design and production of all in-book and online promotional pages and advertorials/special secitions

Direct, manage and design all in-book promotion pages, on-line promotions and advertorials. Translate client objectives to layouts that involve readers and produce on those objectives. Work with suppliers, marketing and other internal staff as well as production to insure that the design quality is high relative to time and budget.

Responsible for the production of all collateral support materials related to special project and event platforms

Work with marketing staff (and PGOA editors when necessary) to create brand images for signature events and special projects. Work these brand images into event support materials including collateral; in-book ads; advertising campaigns; branded premiums, clothing and awards, room design and event signage.

Manage process, budget and freelance support

Manage the work-flow for a very busy support department. Oversee supplies and manage budget for individual projects. Develop a deep list of freelance suppliers including printers, designers, illustrators, photographers, digital artists and premium suppliers.

Essential skills

Strong visual skills including color sense, eye for typography and ability to suit solution to objective

Finely-tuned & sophisticated ‘taste-level’ Tuned in to what’s current and what’s ‘next’

Understanding of our market and medium Deep database of suppliers, venues and support

Strong organizational skills/flawless attention to detail/budgetary responsibility

Production expertise should include digital and print techniques

Facile in industry-standard graphic software: InDesign, PhotoShop, Illustrator, PowerPoint. Competent in Word. Competent in Flash and/or HTML5.

Experience

5-10 years experience as a working designer in both print and digital, preferably in promotion and marketing
