Job description:
Adweek is seeking a staff writer to cover Web publishing and digital video. The ideal candidate should have three to five years reporting experience, preferably with some knowledge of the media and advertising landscape. Our hope is to find a person with a passion for journalism and content, but also an understanding of the dramatic business issues facing both the Web publishing and online video worlds-everything from the rise of programmatic ad buying to venture-backed content startups to ever changing list of winners and losers in digital journalism. We are hoping to find someone who loves digital media and advertising but also someone who is hungry to dig up news and provide a critical analysis of the real challenges facing the media industry as it collides with rapidly changing consumer consumption patterns and advertisers that are rethinking their entire approach to reaching customers.
Responsibilities:
* Cover Web publishing and digital video with knowledge of the advertising business
* Post multiple stories daily to Adweek.com
* Promote stories via social media
* Write weekly news and analysis stories for the magazine
* Write features regularly
* Attend conferences and events, moderate/participate on panels
* Appear on TV as a media expert
* Some travel required
Desired Skills and Experience
* 3+ years of full-time reporting and writing experience in a newsroom environment
* Ability to prioritize and multitask multiple assignments
* Ability to work independently to find stories and cultivate sources
* Passion and commitment to covering the digital media landscape
* Familiarity with Drupal, K4, basic HTML
* Familiarity with AP Stylebook
Education Requirements:
4-year degree or higher, preferably in English, journalism or related field
