Full-Time Freelance Senior Graphic Designer
Four to Five Day Onsite Position for Growing Web and Magazine Publishing Company

Responsibilities
Work with sales and marketing team to design and produce sales proposals and presentations including comps that effectively illustrate ideas and concepts
Create promotional materials including brochures, ads, premiums and web blasts
Design invitations, signage, and other event-related collateral
Manage outside vendor relationships (design firms, printers)
Develop and manage marketing projects to budget
Work with other departments (circulation, production, web site) as needed to create collateral material and sales tools
Work with management team to develop and execute effective branding materials
Position reports to the Associate Publisher, Marketing

Work on tasks independently
Handle multiple projects simultaneously
Organize and prioritize work under pressure
Manage project details and see projects through to completion
Work within an assigned budget

Qualifications
B.A. degree in design/fine arts or related field
5+ years of publishing (print and/or digital) experience within a ad sales marketing department
Experience designing for both print and digital based projects.
Must have thorough knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, In Design, Illustrator, Acrobat) and PowerPoint,  HTML, CSS and Flash.
Thorough knowledge of print production techniques and file preparation for web, offset and digital applications
Project management experience
Strong written and oral communication skills

Digital Marketing and Production Intern, Smithsonian Digital Enterprises, Washington DC February 1, 2013

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the Smithsonian’s digital team as a paid intern. The Digital Marketing and Production Intern will help to drive audience and create new content products for the Smithsonian’s Web sites.

 

Internship duties include:
*Work with the Audience/Product Development team to research, write and produce content for new marketing initiatives and content offerings.

*Assist with execution of marketing campaigns

*Help with social media activities and outreach to journalists and bloggers.

*Help with Search Engine Optimization keyword research and implementation.

*Help with photo research and web production – i.e., build slideshows, upload articles, and swap out creatives.

*Help research industry best practices and work with the Audience/Product Development team to develop new ideas for content offerings.

*Help with administration work in tracking invoices, etc.
Skills desired:
*Strong knowledge of and interest in the web and social media

*Experience with Photoshop, HTML and a Web content management system or web publishing tools is preferred.
*Strong research and writing skills, with the ability to handle several projects at once under deadline
*Fluency in MS Office application
*Experience with web publishing tools
*Recent graduate with a Bachelors or Masters Degree in a related field of study
Internship Details:
*12 months in duration – candidates must be able to commit to a full year
*40 hours a week
*Paid Internship
