Associate Director, Integrated Marketing – People July 6, 2011

The Associate Director will develop sales, marketing and promotional strategies for the PEOPLE Group including PEOPLE, PEOPLE.com and StyleWatch –collaborating with both the print and online sales teams for the Entertainment, Fashion and Retail categories. The position combines creative “big” idea/platform creation, partnership development, presentation skills as well as strong program execution.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Category development: Work with Senior Director on development of category-specific strategies including competitive landscape/sales opportunities

• Presentation development and execution: Work with various departments (i.e. strategic research department, creative services and events) to create compelling proposals, presentations, marketing concepts and/or positioning

• Industry relationships: Work with the studios, networks and labels on brand and advertiser initiatives

• Entertainment: Work with major award show organizations (i.e. GRAMMY/SAG), film festival sponsorships, music and film events

• Client Meetings: Accompany sales reps on sales calls to present marketing platforms and client-specific opportunities

• Program Management: Responsible for creating and managing category programs

• Manage Integrated Marketing Associate

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required, minimum 8-9 years marketing experience, preferably in media/advertising.
• Knowledge of the Entertainment category and relationships preferred
• Team player, self-starter who is also extremely innovative, professional and resourceful
• Ideal candidate must be highly proactive and solution-oriented
• Must have strong creative skills and extensive experience in developing compelling integrated marketing programs
• Must be proficient in PowerPoint, Word and Excel

We are looking for a freelance graphic designer (independent/1099) to work on our digital and print design projects. We are looking to find someone who can take the Milkshake look and feel and expand it to create new graphical treatments and concepts within our brand guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in design and execution of projects by using our online project management platform (Basecamp)
  • Create new graphical assets and work with existing assets within the parameters of our brand’s current look and feel. Typical assignments include:
    • web banners
    • Facebook tabs/forms
    • web landing pages
    • web microsites
    • visual updates to existing web pages
    • mobile banners
    • website icons and buttons
    • downloadable PDFs
    • print creative such as tshirts, buttons, merchandising ideas

Required Experience & Skills

  • Inspired by Milkshake’s mission and willing to take risks with the design
  • Mastery in Adobe CS 4 or 5 Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Experience with web technologies:
    • HTML, Expression Engine, CSS a must
    • JQUERY, Javascript and PHP a bonus.
  • Strong sense of design, layout, typography and branding for the web
  • Detail oriented and well organized

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage the editorial process for Milkshake KIDS
    • Shape content, strategy and editorial calendar –ideation, content sourcing, angle development
    • Identify, hire and manage freelance writers
    • Edit articles and content on day to day basis
    • Seamlessly incorporate features highlighting advertisers
    • Manage key editorial relationships and contacts
    • Contributing writer to Milkshake KIDS
  • Manage entire production process
    • Ensure process runs on time and efficiently
    • Input all approved copy and images into Mail Chimp and CMS system
    • Final proof responsibility including images, links, copy

Required Experience & Skills

  • Track record of excellence and leadership in editorial
  • 3-5 years experience at an established publication
  • Experience managing digital publishing
  • Experience managing editors/writers
  • A witty and warm sense of humor that is similar in tone to the Milkshake voice
  • A love of finding and discovering all that’s on trend, is “good” and is in the KIDS space
  • A desire to be building a start up company

We are growing extremely quickly and are breaking into a new sales space with huge potential. Looking to find someone who has huge heart and desire, a love of the space we are in and most critically the resources and skills to break open new accounts for Milkshake

Responsibilities

  • Manage sales cycle from start to finish: prospecting, identifying key contacts, RFP competition, media plans, generating insertion orders and coordinating all collateral
  • Research and identify opportunities for growth, and prospects for new business via an existing rolodex and cold calling
  • Present Milkshake to agencies and clients utilizing custom sales presentations
  • Maximize revenue, while developing creative and strategic solutions for advertisers
  • Track advertising performance and measure sales goals

Required Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3-5 years experience in digital media sales with a demonstrated understanding

Additional Skills

  • A motivated individual with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with a friendly ability to engage and build relationships with prospective advertisers
  • The ability to work independently and on deadline, while occasionally collaborating with editorial team on some events and special projects.
