Job Description
O, The Oprah Magazine is seeking a Marketing Services Director. This position reports to the Associate Publisher, Marketing, and is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the Integrated Marketing Director, Associate Integrated Marketing Director, Associate Integrated Marketing Manager, Marketing Assistant, and Research Strategist.
Key responsibilities include:
· Development of innovative single-client and multi-sponsored marketing programs (may range from print-specific to multi-platform incorporating any combination of print, experiential, digital, or broadcast platforms)
· Oversee execution of marketing programs
· Oversee daily RFP workload
· Edit/approve proposals created by supervised staff; write proposals as-needed
· Supervise Research Strategist
· Initiate/manage the creative development, packaging and execution of general/client presentations, media kit, client/category sales materials, issue promotions, program sell sheets, etc.
· Work with AP/Marketing on the creation and implementation of yearly marketing plan as well as development of key branding/positioning initiatives
· Assist in execution of annual signature event
· Copy-edit and proof sales, marketing and promotional materials
· Accompany sales team on calls
· Manage marketing budget
Required Skills
· Strong supervisory skills (maximizing staff productivity and morale), with the ability to maintain personal productivity while managing staff
· Exceptional copywriting/editing skills across a range of styles from creative copywriting to formal business writing
· Ability to communicate clearly and compellingly in both written and oral presentations
· Fluency in Word, Excel, Powerpoint; conversant in new technology (especially social media)
· Understands syndicated research
· Extremely creative with a penchant for generating new ideas
· Must work well under time pressures, be organized and able to juggle multiple projects simultaneously
· A drive to innovate

POSITION OVERVIEW
Experienced marketing/events professional needed to execute various high-level client programs and other marketing initiatives. Reports into the Director of Client Relations + Industry Marketing.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Execute custom events for sales team that build relationships with their clients, drive awareness, create new leads and help close business.
• Create and manage overarching event schedules as well as top executives schedules at key industry events.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
• At least 3 Years of work experience in Events, Marketing, Media/Advertising or a related field. Prior experience in all elements of meeting/event planning required.
• Experience and knowledge of Advertising/Media Industry a big plus.
• Preferred bachelor’s degree in related fields, such as Communications or Marketing
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal) as well as general interpersonal skills

O, The Oprah Magazine is seeking a Research Strategist who is responsible for using both primary and syndicated research to create sales tools and presentations that tell a compelling story. Interact with the entire sales and marketing staff, Hearst Corporate Research, as well as vendors including syndicated providers and survey/research firms. Function as the principal liaison between O sales and Hearst Corp research to review/provide analysis/packaging of all requested runs. Create/update General and Category presentations, working with the Executive Marketing Director and art department. Create custom sales presentations and mailers/marketing pieces as needed. Assist in the development of annual strategic research plan and budget. Maintain and continue to develop a reader panel; conduct surveys of the reader panel-both on behalf of O and for advertisers. Manage other special studies as needed. Translate and package study findings into meaningful presentations that will enable account managers to present O as a valuable resource and partner to client/agency prospects. Organize and maintain both the online and printed media kits; updating relevant research materials as new study waves are released.

Required Skills
The ideal candidate for this manager-level position will have 2-3+ years’ experience in research, will be completely fluent with syndicated research, analytical, and love to dig deep to come up with compelling stories. She/he will be a proactive critical thinker who will be able to take raw numbers, find the hook and produce sell sheets and presentations that help drive sales. They will be able to design/drive proprietary research studies including but not limited to reader panel surveys. Other skills include facility with PowerPoint, the ability to interact with the sales team and to present research to client/agency prospects on sales calls. Good writing skills are a huge plus.
