VERANDA is looking for someone smart, enthusiastic and professional who is ambitious and eager to learn about all aspects of magazine publishing. Applicants must be working towards a bachelor’s degree, have a general interest of the business and/or magazine industry, and be a committed team player, with excellent writing skills and the ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

This is a great opportunity for someone who has prior experience in either magazines and/or business to embrace responsibilities and be a true team member at VERANDA.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

– Assist in event preparation and execution
– Manage RSVP lists for events
– Track share of market of advertising, advertorials, and promotional pages among competitive magazines
– Database upkeep
– Conduct media research, proof read, and maintain collateral materials library
– Manage issue mailings
– Research and present social media practices of competitive magazines
– Assist in day-to-day activities within the sales and marketing departments

VERANDA requires a minimum commitment of three-months (at least 15-20 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 9am – 5:00pm, 2-3 days a week) College credit is required.

CONSUMER EVENT INTERN – The Knot

Intern will work closely with the in-house event department to track and increase brand presence across the U.S. through consumer events for the top two wedding websites TheKnot.com and WeddingChannel.com and TheBump.com.

Intern will hone communication, organization and event production skills while learning how to negotiate and draft agreements with bridal show and mom-to-be organizations, track bridal show activity for our 56 sales reps, research new event opportunities for our brands, and coordinate shipments to our top bridal shows and mom-to-be events. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in a career in Event Marketing. A love for event planning is essential.

Cosmopolitan Magazine – Marketing/Promotion Manager

Cosmo is currently searching for a Marketing/Promotion Manager.

Duties:

• Work with 2-3 sales partners to write merchandising proposals in response to advertiser RFPs.

•      Implement merchandising and added-value programs for sales partners¹clients including sweepstakes, GWPs, in-book promotions etc.

•      Work with Promotion Directors and art department to create comps and Advertorials.

•      Project manage select multi-advertiser merchandising programs including additional elements such as mini-site, gift fulfillment, sampling, mailers, signage, etc.

•      Research new marketing/promotion programs and partnerships.

•      Attend sales calls to present marketing ideas when necessary.

Required Skills:

Requires excellent writing, communication and self-editing skills, organizational abilities, creative thinking.  Must be detail-oriented, flexible, responsive, motivated, enthusiastic, team-player.  Must be digital marketing savvy.

Required Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree.

2-3 years marketing/promotion experience at the associate manager level or higher, preferably

at a media company.  Must have knowledge and interest in digital, apps and social media.

Required Skills:

Bachelor’s degree desired.

A minimum of 3-5 years selling advertising space for consumer magazines.

Strong print sales background required; integrated experience including digital,

events and direct client selling strongly preferred.

PowerPoint proficiency required; Sales force experience preferred.

Should have a working knowledge of syndicated research and dealing with ad

agencies.

Must be conscientious and organized to handle diversified account list.

Must have strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication

skills including the ability to make presentations and deal with all levels of

management.

Should have proven selling and negotiation skills and the ability to execute complex

sales strategies with creativity and innovation.

Position Description:

US Affinities Integrated Sales and Marketing Group (Every Day with Rachael Ray,

Allrecipes.com, Taste of Home, and Fresh Home) is looking for an integrated sales and

marketing professional who is an independent strategic manager who can oversee and handle

high level program development and account management. This job is a mix of idea generation,

partnership development, and creative writing of marketing programs with print, digital and

experiential elements.

Responsibilities:

Candidate must ‘push the idea platform boundaries’ to leverage our unique consumer

position in the marketplace to create engaging platforms that drive sales.

Work to create signature, multi-advertiser programs that leverage our unique editorial

platforms and bring to life our brands is important and will require creating in-book units,

developing online components, and producing any events that are a part of these

signature programs.

Develop strategic partnerships that can be used in the selling our media through ideation.

Consistently review consumer trend data and monitor the consumer’s mindset and

approach towards everyday food preparation and entertaining with resulting impacts on

brand choice and what catalysts will affect that brand choice.

Work with senior decision-making clients (Brand Managers; VPs of Advertising) to

articulate our ideas and instill confidence during both the sell-in and execution process.

Oversee all execution to ensure that the client’s brand, our brands and the program are

properly represented in print, online and through experiential components.

Required:

Bachelor’s degree with 8 plus years of progressive experience in media, marketing or

account development.

Candidate must be strategic and able to both think creatively and manage tactical

execution. Knowledge of print, digital and events is a must and attention to detail is

necessary to manage the execution from timelines to budgets.
