O, The Oprah magazine is looking for a Marketing Manager. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years’ experience in research, will be completely fluent with syndicated research and love to dig deep to come up with compelling stories. She/he will be a proactive critical thinker who will be able to take raw numbers, find the hook and produce sell sheets and presentation that help sales people sell. They will be able to design/drive proprietary research studies including but not limited to reader panel surveys. Other skills include facility with PowerPoint, the ability to interact with the sales team and to present research to client/agency prospects on sales calls. Good writing skills are a huge plus.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for using both primary and syndicated research to create sales tools and presentations that tell a compelling story
Interact with the entire sales and marketing staff, Hearst corporate research, as well as vendors including syndicated providers and survey/research firms
Function as the principal liaison between O sales and Hearst Corp research to review/provide analysis/packaging of all requested runs
Assist in the development of annual strategic research plan and budget
Maintain and continue to develop a reader panel; conduct (by directing an outside vendor) regular surveys of the reader panel – both on behalf of O and for advertisers
Manage other special studies as needed
Translate and package study findings into meaningful presentations that will enable account managers to present O as a valuable resource and partner to client/agency prospects
Create/update General and Category presentations, working with the Executive Marketing Director and art department
Create custom sales presentations and mailers/marketing pieces as needed
Organize and maintain both the online and printed media kits; updating relevant research materials as new study waves are released
Position reports to the Executive Marketing Director

Required Skills:

Able to design/drive proprietary research studies including but not limited to reader panel surveys
PowerPoint
Ability to interact with sales team and present research to client/agency prospects on sales calls
Good writing skills are a huge plus

Required Experience:

3 years prior magazine marketing experience

Reports to: Integrated Marketing Director

Title: Integrated Marketing Manager

The Manager is the primary point of entry for sales to a centralized Integrated Marketing Department that supports the PEOPLE Group including PEOPLE, PEOPLE.com, PEOPLE Country and Style Watch. Based on category assignments, the manager will collaborate with both the print and online sales teams and will play an integral role in developing marketing strategies, promotions and programs. The position combines creative “big” idea/platform creation, partnership development and presentation skills and program execution to leverage the PEOPLE brand as a vital media partner.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Idea generation and program development: Work with sales and marketing colleagues to develop integrated opportunities including print, digital, event, retail and more to maximize advertising partnerships

• Category development: Support the Integrated Marketing Director in the development of category-specific strategies including competitive landscape/sales opportunities

• Presentation development and execution: Work with various departments (i.e. strategic research department, creative services and events) to create compelling proposals, presentations, marketing concepts and/or positioning

Interns will work on various marketing and promotions initiatives for Brides.com and Brides’ 16 local Brides Magazines.
